Pastor’s Weekly Update
Change! I don’t like it, I rarely ever want it and I struggle to accept change when it is placed upon me! Sadly, I’m raising a six-year-old who is just like me. She cried for three months after we moved her out of her crib and into her toddler bed. We just painted her room in ‘big girl colors’ and she still misses her trashcan that matched the nursery set. We experience change all the time and for most of us, change is hard!
At church, we too are experiencing change. Colonial Park is undergoing minor renovations to the worship space with new carpet and chairs. This Sunday Colonial Park will have two services, 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. in the multi-purpose room downstairs. The South Hanover Campus has formed a team looking into our future knowing that renting the Perking Point is not a long-term solution. And the Midtown Campus is just forming and getting ready for a major launch into the community in September. While these changes are all good, it is still change and change can be difficult.
And all the while we have indeed one constant in our lives.
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” (James 1:17 NLT) I believe these are words of comfort in an ever-changing world. God lavishes many gifts upon us and all the while remains ever present and ever constant. God desires to ride out the changes in our lives with ease knowing that we are not alone.
